Desert Hike

My man! He's cooling off in the shade of a Palo Verde Tree and checking the hike stats on the Garmin. Who knew that a Garmin could keep track of your hike too?! Go figure that the engineer would find a gadget to give him all the details we wants. How far, where, how fast, how high (or low), etc.

Jacob taking a picture of a wildflower. They weren't quite out yet but this one ended up being a great shot. Right as Jacob clicked the shutter a bee flew in for some nectar. It is so cool! If I can get a copy of it over here I will!

Tomorrow it will be 28 years!!! How about that? Mark took today off and we went hiking. Jacob surprised us by coming along for the walk. We went to San Tan Mountain Regional Park. It was beautiful. We enjoyed 65 degrees when we started, a cool breeze, and 1 1/2 hours and 4 1/2 miles later it was only 74 degrees. I love Arizona but I love Mark the best!!!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary!

Here it is...the new bedroom furniture! Of course I now need to get organized and get the room set up but isn't it pretty? I don't know that we'll keep the box springs. It is a little high up there but I wanted Mark to see what it looks like with them in there. It's easier to take them out if he doesn't like it. Michelle made the observation, already, that I'm going to have to dust more. More? How about dust! At least I want to dust this AND there shouldn't be anything on top to hinder me. HA! How long do you think that will last? :)

What happened Emerson???

Learning to tell the truth can be challenging...especially when the evidence is all over you! Grandma loves you Emerson and your mom is very glad that her new comforter is safe...oh, she loves you too!

Movie madness?

I don't know how things are at your house but we watch a lot of movies (I should say a lot of one movie at a time!). Tangled just got replaced by Madagascar! I'm surprised actually but hey the three year old knows what he wants when he wants it. Is it even 7:00 am yet????

The Heat is ON

Not to rub it in, my fair-weather friends, but it's going to be 80 degrees here tomorrow. 80 glorious digits in the warm up your bones, soak into your skin, degrees! Before you really start getting mad it will be back into the 60's next week. That's not funny either huh? :)

I know, I know...you're saying just wait until July! I KNOW!!!!

Eagle Project #3

Kevin's project was to set up seven tents, inspect them, and then clean the mold out of them if possible. One tent was beyond repair. A good visual lesson in why tents must be aired out and not stored wet!

Kevin's almost done...can you tell by the picture? :)
Third day of the project today. Taking the tents down!
I'm almost done too! lol

Post Camp Kick-off

Whew! We're done and the official planning has begun. We used the game the Price is Right to give the wards their assignments for camp. The prize they won playing ended up being their store that they will lease at the Value Fashion Mall this summer at camp. Our theme is "Values are ALWAYS in Fashion." This is the young woman on our banner who has been shopping and has chosen to "own" all the young women values for herself. (Sister Cunningham drew this for us! It is amazing don't you think?) Now we'll move forward incorporating the general YW theme for 2011 too...the 13th Article of Faith. Yea! More values to own.

The Price is Right!

Tonight marks the official start of another year planning (it really started last October!), preparing (did anyone get much sleep last night?), and serving (it will ALL be worth it come June 18th when we're heading home ) at YW Camp this summer. We are playing The Price is Right to introduce our theme and give the wards their assignments. It's going to be wild and crazy! Check back later to hear the theme. It's going to be fun!

Love you mom!

Today marks the second anniversary since Mom passed away. The emotions are close to the surface but memories are holding true. Grandma Sumsion always said "Float on the memories" and that's what I'm doing. Being in the temple this morning certainly helped. It is a good reminder that even though we can't see our loved ones any more we WILL be with them again. I will try to keep my end of the deal so I can be with my loved ones forever!

Pencil it in

As it always is with weddings the bride and groom pick the date and IF you can come, come. Otherwise send them your love and wish them luck....right?

The newly engaged couple has tentatively chosen June 25th as their wedding date. They really want a summer wedding so they'll get it. I just hope it's not 120 degrees that day. :)

Cable TV

Mark finally did it. He's thought about going digital or cable for years. We now have cable TV. What used to be a favorite vacation evening ritual is now happening right here in the family room. At least most of the family is enjoying the shows...together. It will be interesting to see if homework and sleep suffers. Sigh...
